History
Beginning
of the fifties, an engineer by the name of Johann Schoenrock started
his own steel construction shop in Hamburg, J
oh. Schoenrock oHG. Soon after the
foundation of the company he began to build hydraulic
operating devices for engine room skylights, as well as spindle
davits to lower life rafts and boats, all designed for the maritime
industry and fabricated in his own workshop.
As time went by, the ongoing market as well as technical
developments formed of course new challenges for the company and
Schoenrock developed itself into a specialized supplier of
hydraulically operated watertight sliding (bulkhead) doors, bow and
stern ramps, movable as well as fixed car decks, side shell
doors and other type of cargo access equipment.
Having sailed both the smaller as well as the bigger waves, so
typical to a cyclical industry such as the shipbuilding industry,
the business was completely reorganized at the end of the year 2002,
and a new company was founded under the name of Schoenrock
Hydraulic Marine Systems GmbH.
The business philosophy however, had not changed and was and still
is to design and manufacture mechanical hydraulic equipment and
systems for the marine industry.
With
a view to first bring the company’s business back into “quieter
waters”, the initial focus was on the recapture of market shares in
the watertight bulkhead door segment. As these efforts proved to be
successful, a similar action was started towards the end of the year
2003, to accomplish the same in the cargo access equipment market.
Since also this action soon showed positive results, the company’s
overall business has grown significantly and therefore, in order to
allow for increased focus on both business segments, the decision
was taken to separate the activities.
